That's me trying to write a blog post whilst nursing Audrey in the middle of the night. Her nights have taken a turn for the worse this month, and staying awake while she feeds is a huge challenge!
So, what did January bring?
- a magic show, in which Oscar was a volunteer and found himself suitably mistreated by the rather manic magician
- The Railway Children in Kings Cross with "the Camberwell Girls" (Oscar's NCT group), with an actual steam train rolling up at the end of the first part. I took Anouk as well as my boys, and she wandered off at the end of the show without her shoes on, leaving me trapped in my row bellowing, "Anouk!!! Stop!!" to little avail. She was eventually stopped by a bemused staff member.
- a surprise (for Oscar) visit from our dear friends Sophie and Gebran
- a visit to A&E on New Year's Eve with Audrey who had bronchiolitus
- hosting a New Year's Eve party, during which Oscar and Elodie made their grand DJ debuts as Ozzycat and Excellent Elodie, and Papou welcomed in the new year doing tequila shots with Stephen
And that just gets us to 1 January!
- 3 days at Lala's house during which it rained nearly non-stop so we maxed out on Mille Bornes and films instead
- the now traditional, annual Epiphany party at Tata Laure's, where Leo discovered a love for cross-dressing
- an afternoon of roller skating on the southbank for Oscar and me (and Tata Laure, Anouk, Tonton Milou and Marion) while Fred and Leo hung out, and Papou walked around with Audrey in the sling
- Oscar's mini-tale (100 words max) was chosen for publication in "Time-Travelling Tales - Once Upon a Time", which is due to be published in April. I am, of course, very proud and feel that it is well-deserved; however having discovered that several other kids in Oscar's class also had their stories chosen, I wonder whether this is a devious ploy to get parents to purchase a copy of the overpriced book. I just ordered 6 copies at £15 each - sucker!
- And last but not least, Audrey's first of many steps towards toddlerhood: she started "eating" (aka mucking about with) solids.
First food: pear
Second food: broccoli
